QUICK START

Follow these in order. If you get stuck, use Snap's troubleshooting guides at the end of this section or ask in Discord.

  1. Install a coding agent. The skill pack works with any agent that supports skills (see skills.sh). Snap has CLAD setup guides for Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor.
  2. Install Lens Studio 5.22 or later. It's free and runs on Windows 11 or macOS 12+. Download it from ar.snap.com/download.
  3. Create a SPECS project. On the Lens Studio home page, choose SPECS, then Base Template, then File > Save As. Snap's guide: Setup Lens Studio.
  4. Start your agent from the project folder. Keep the project open in Lens Studio, open a terminal in the project folder, and start your coding agent there. Lens Studio has to be open first, because it creates the connection (the Lens Studio MCP) your agent uses.
  5. Install CLAD. Follow Snap's setup guide for your agent: Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor. Each guide covers installing the CLAD plugin and checking that your agent is connected to Lens Studio.
  6. Install the Devpost Learn skill pack: npx skills add challengepost/learn-specs --all -y. Repo: github.com/challengepost/learn-specs

Stuck? Snap's troubleshooting guides: Troubleshoot MCP (your agent can't see Lens Studio) and Troubleshoot Plugin (CLAD isn't showing up).

FAQ

Do I need SPECS glasses? No. You build and test everything in Lens Studio's preview, and your demo video is a recording of the preview.

How does CLAD work? See Snap's How CLAD Works and Agents and Skills.

Which coding agents can I use? The skill pack works with any agent that supports skills (see skills.sh). For CLAD, Snap has setup guides for Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor.

My agent can't see Lens Studio, or CLAD isn't showing up. See Snap's Troubleshoot MCP and Troubleshoot Plugin guides.

How do I test hand interactions without glasses? See Snap's guides to the preview panel and to testing with LEAF.

How long does a build take? Snap's setup guides say a full CLAD build can take 30 minutes or more.

Can I build without the AI agent? No. Plan the Lens with the skill pack and build it with your coding agent through CLAD.

Can I use an old project? No, the project must be new. Old ideas are fine. You can use Lens Studio templates, assets, and libraries, but you must disclose any other pre-existing code.

What has to be in my repo? It must be public on GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket. It should include your Lens Studio project files and the devpost folder of planning docs the skill pack creates.

What has to be in my video? It must be public on YouTube and show your Lens working. Keep it under 3 minutes. If you can, also show your planning docs, the agent building the Lens, and the design ideas you used.

Can I work on a team? Yes. Teams pick one Representative to submit, and prizes go to that person to divide.

Is there more than one round? Yes, a new round runs every month. Each round has its own deadline and winners. Dates for the next round will be posted here.
